Since 1977, the National Journalism Center, a project of Young America's Foundation, has provided aspiring conservative and libertarian journalists with the premier opportunity to learn the principles and practice of responsible reporting. The National Journalism Center combines 12 weeks of on-the-job training at a Washington, D.C.-based media outlet with once-weekly training seminars led by prominent journalists, policy experts, and NJC faculty.
Interns are matched with a print, broadcast, or online media outlet based on their interests and experience, and spend 30 hours/week gaining practical, hands-on journalism experience. One day a week is spent at NJC seminar, where interns learn the rudiments of journalism and gain a better understanding of media, society, and public policy, and the intersection between the three here in Washington, D.C.
Sessions:
Fall (Sept. - Dec.)
Spring (Jan. - Apr.)
Summer (May - Aug.)
Compensation: $1,000/month for the 12-week session
