You Are What You Eat Organic or Not!

A Stanford University study says paying more to buy organic fruits and vegetables may not be necessary as the report states that the only benefits of buying organic is lower exposure to pesticides because organic foods and vegetables have 30% less residue than non-organic ones, which for people with allergies may be very important. Exposure to pesticides also lowers resistance to antibiotics, so it is not to be ignored. However, lower exposure may not be the only reason why people buy organic, they may also have taste preferences and environmental concerns against using pesticides.

There’s some truth to this. My take on it based on the advice I received from someone who works in the field is to buy organic fruits and vegetables that you eat the skin such as apples, plums, vegetables etc. However, you can eat the non-organic versions of the fruits and vegetables you take the skin off of such as watermelon, oranges etc. This is because pesticides are sprayed on the skin and if you eat the skin, washing them is not enough to remove the pesticide residue, so you actually ingest some pesticide residue as you eat them but other than that there’s no nutritional difference
