You don't have to go far to find blog posts about the 2013 color of the year. It's starting to show up everywhere. I love Emerald Green, but think white is going to have a great year also. Why white, why now? Well, the right white can transform a space. It's fresh and extremely versatile. Once you get comfortable using white paint the right way, it will become one of your favorite design staples.

In this family room designed by Michel Boyd, the walls were left white while the ceiling was infused with a pop of color. This is one of my favorite applications! The ceiling color was pulled from thepillow fabric and ties the room together perfectly.

This image by Darryl Carter shows the basic difference between crisp white walls and builder beige.Look at how the light just bounces around inside the entire room.Take special note of the dark floors. When choosing white walls, remember to go as dark as possible on the flooring.
