We look forward to seeing you at this Friday’s YAP Networking Event, featuring 2 dynamic African women who are trailblazing in the world of fashion and design.

You will have an incredibly good time, and meet some of the brightest young professionals with an interest in Africa!

Speakers Mimi Plange 1. Mimi Plange is a Ghanaian-born fashion designer who has been featured in Vogue, The New York Times, Harpers Bazaar, Marie Claire, Glamour Magazine, Cosmopolitan and others.

Her designs are inspired by pre-colonial African fashion, and her clothes have been worn by Michelle Obama, Princess Astrid of Belgium, Rihanna, Alicia Keys, Estelle, and many more. Mimi Plange recently collaborated with shoe designer Manolo Blahnik, on their Autumn Winter 2012 collection and more recently for Spring 2013.

Mimi Plange won Designer of the Year (International) at the recently held 2012 Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, Africa.

2. Catherine Mckinley is the author of “Indigo: The Indelible Color That Ruled The World”; a book which chronicles the lives of the women who work and trade indigo-dyed cloth in nine countries in Africa. ***Books will be available for purchase during event for $15. Cash only please***
